COURSE DESCRIPTION:

 This two-day course will present the principles and strategies of the NDTA Contemporary Practice Model TM as currently applied to adults with impairments resulting from stroke or traumatic brain injury. The emphasis will be on improving movement analysis skills during meaningful, functional tasks and the application of tactile feedback to enhance effective movement strategies for successful completion of meaningful, functional tasks.  The course emphasizes a problem-solving approach to integrated patient assessment based on an understanding of functional limitations, system impairments and motor dysfunction.  The information presented includes a discussion of the following topics:  research supporting neurorecovery and neuroplasticity; identification of treatment variables that promote neuroplastic changes; and the application of complimentary treatment strategies to enhance functional outcomes.  The course includes videotape presentations and a patient treatment demonstrated by the instructor.  Therapeutic handling techniques utilized in treatment to address motor dysfunction will be demonstrated and practiced in interactive problem-solving laboratory session.

INSTRUCTOR BIO: 

Jodi A. Renard, PT, DPT, C/NDT, CBIS was named a NDTA Inc., Adult Course PT Instructor in 2014 and Coordinator Instructor in 2019. She received a B.S. in Allied Medical Professions with a major in Physical Therapy in 1995 from Ohio State University and her clinical doctorate degree from Shenandoah University in 2011. She was NDTA Inc., trained in 1998 and served as a PT instructor candidate for NDTA Adult Certificate courses starting in 2007. Prior to entering the process of becoming an instructor, Jodi assisted in lab portions of NDT Introductory continuing education courses since 2002. She was a speaker on post-traumatic dizziness at the 2012 Brain Injury Summit, hosted by Craig Hospital in Beaver Creek, Colorado; The Grant Trauma Conference, Columbus, OH in 2013, the OhioHealth Neuroscience Symposium, Columbus, OH in 2015, and the OhioHealth Vestibular Rehabilitation Course annually from 2016 to present.  Jodi serves as a Residency mentor for the Acquired Brain Injury module for the Ohio University- OhioHealth Physical Therapy Residency Program since 2016.  She is a certified brain injury specialist since 2019. She specializes in the treatment of brain and stroke conditions and vestibular rehabilitation. She has experience working with neurologically impaired clients along the continuum of care.  She currently works as a clinician and serves as the Acquired Brain Injury PT Program Coordinator for the OhioHealth Outpatient Neurological Rehabilitation in Columbus, Ohio.

$300 for general registrants.

Cancellation and Refund Policy:
A. OhioHealth Cancellation: OhioHealth reserves the right to cancel or delay a course due to any unforeseen circumstances. In the event a course is cancelled, OhioHealth will refund all registration fees. OhioHealthis not responsible for any travel, hotel or other costs incurred.
B. Participant Cancellation: If a participant cancels, a refund of the conference fee minus an administrative charge of 25% of the registration fee will be made if written notice of cancellation is received no later than one week prior to the event. Exceptions may be approved on a case-by-case basis.
C. Inclement Weather: If a participant is unable to attend due to inclement weather (Level 3 Snow Emergency), refund of the registration fee minus 25% administrative charge will be issued.
D. Exceptions: Exceptions are considered at the discretion of the primary activity planner on a case-by-case basis.
