Review of cardio-oncology and things for the general pharmacists to be thinking about in their patients who may be on cardiotoxic chemotherapy.


Objectives
After completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Discuss cardio-oncology and a patient case.
  2. Describe the cardio-oncology patient population including risk factors for cancer therapy-related cardiac dysfunction (CTRCD), baseline cardiac dysfunction, and cardiac effects of chemotherapy agents.
  3. Review current guideline recommendations for heart failure and primary and secondary cardiac prevention in patients at risk for or with CTRCD.
  4. Summarize the current recommendations and where future research is needed.
