This course reviews functional neurological disorder’s definition, epidemiology, etiology, pathophysiology, and prognosis. It will report rehabilitation research studies that focus on treatment of patients with FND. It will review current treatment recommendations with a focus on physical, occupational, and speech therapy.


Objectives
After completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Define Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) and differentiate from other related disorders.
  2. Review clinical research studies.
  3. Understand the common symptoms and clinical signs of the different subtypes of FND.
  4. Apply general and discipline-specific treatment principles for FND.
