This activity will be on a pilot project with rapid conversion of oral antibiotics in patients with non-severe community acquired pneumonia. This is a pharmacy led intervention to promote antibiotic stewardship, decrease intravenous (IV) antibiotic therapy days, and decrease length of stay.


Objectives
After completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Recall primary literature supporting a new pilot project at Grant Medical Center for rapid conversion to oral antibiotic therapy for patients with non-severe community acquired pneumonia (CAP).
  2. Identify steps in the CAP pilot project where pharmacists can impact antimicrobial stewardship within a health system.
