In the United States, colorectal cancer is the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths in men and in women, and the second most common cause of cancer deaths when men and women are combined. It's expected to cause about 52,580 deaths during 2022. Screening has been shown to significantly decrease the incidence of colorectal cancer. The prevalence of colorectal cancer requires that all providers understand the prevention modalities and therapeutic options for this common disease. The Colorectal Symposium serves as a way to share the latest information on the diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer from OhioHealth surgeons. Attendees will gain valuable knowledge of colorectal cancer screening guidelines, risks and genetics. Evidenced-based guidelines will be provided to ensure that participants return to their practices with the most up-to-date information.

Objectives
After completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Discuss the assessment and diagnosis of colorectal and anal cancers.
  2. Describe the management of high-risk patients.
  3. Identify screening options for colorectal patients.
  4. Explain the prevention modalities and therapeutic options for colorectal cancers.
