Patients frequently choose the legal act of donor registration long before facing EOL situations leaving physicians and nurse leaders with little-known federal regulations and hospital guidelines involving donation. This course will give an overview of the DCD pathway, OhioHealth policy around common donation issues, and ethical considerations raised in the past 18 months at OhioHealth. Emphasis on support of the patient's decision-makers along with clinical explanation for often-frustrating donation order sets will be provided.
