In 2023, attendees of the Oncology Breast Symposium gained valuable knowledge of breast cancer as it relates to genetics, screening guidelines as well as new advances in treatment, surgery and patient management. Evidenced-based guidelines were provided to ensure that participants return to their practices with the most up-to-date information.


Objectives
After completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the indications for oncoplastic surgery, the candidates for nipple sparing mastectomy and sensation preservation performed for a mastectomy
  2. Identify the indicators for Benign breast disease and management of these patients.
  3. Identify screening guidelines for mammography and imaging in average risk patients, Abbreviated MRI, Prone radiation, Automated breast ultrasound, 3D mammogram breast tomosynthesis
  4. Discuss the management of high-risk patients and who should be managed by the oncology high-risk program
  5. List the risk factors for lymphedema, assess patients at risk and the various treatment modalities.
