This course addresses the different levels of consciousness; injuries that may cause this and how to identify appropriate patients. This course dives into the details of minimally conscious state and the newest clinical practice guidelines. Each sensory system is covered in depth along with how to illicit responses for this patient population. The audience learns about considerations for mobility as well appropriate documentation that follows. Guidance is provided on outcome measures and equipment usage to increase overall patient interaction. Time is provided for questions and discuss at the end of the presentation. 


Objectives
After completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. 1. The audience will be able to state the different levels of consciousness
  2. 2. Will be able to document patient’s response to stimulation
  3. 3. Utilize different stimulation to increase patient arousal
  4. 4. Will be able to utilize appropriate outcome measures related to disorders of consciousness
