This course is designed to provide the latest information regarding prevention, recognition and treatment of athletic injuries. This course will focus on practical and clinically relevant information for participants to use in their daily practice. This course is intended for primary care physicians, team physicians, sports medicine physicians, orthopedic surgeons, physical therapists, athletic trainers, nurses and other interested healthcare professionals.



Objectives
After completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the common signs, symptoms and mechanisms of joint instability and construct holistic therapeutic inventions to decrease pain and increase the patient's ability to return to activity.
  2. Discuss the need for surgical intervention for acute and chronic pathologies related to the shoulder and ankle.
  3. Apply functional exercises and manual therapies to daily clinical practice.
  4. Evaluate and apply concepts of sports medicine management to reduce risk in clinical settings and decrease medical care disparities for underserved communities.
