Thomas Pommering, DO attended college at the University of Cincinnati where he graduated, cum laude, with a B.A. in Psychology with emphasis in Neuropsychology.  He attended Medical School at the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, Ohio; did an internship at Doctor’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio and was Chief Resident in his Family Medicine Residency at Miami Valley Hospital /Wright State University College of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio.  From there he did a Fellowship in Sports Medicine and Nutrition at Grant Medical Center in Columbus.  He worked in private practice in Family and Sport Medicine for 4 years before joining the faculty at The Grant Medical Center Family Medicine Residency Program where he was also Program Director for the Sports Medicine Fellowship.  From there he was invited to develop the Pediatric Sports Medicine Program at Nationwide Children's Hospital where he has been for 17 years.  Dr. Pommering has been a high school team physician for over 25 years and is currently the team physician at Grandview Heights High School.  He has also served as Team Physician for Ohio University, Urbana University, Capital University, Kenyon College and is currently Head Team Physician for Ohio Dominican University.   Dr. Pommering has also been Medical Director for the Great Ohio Bicycle Adventure and Tour de Grandview Professional Cycling Race for over 25 years.  He is currently the Division Chief of Sports Medicine, Co-Director of the Sports Concussion Clinic, Associate Program Director for the Sports Medicine Fellowship and Past-President of the Medical staff at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.  Finally, Dr. Pommering is an Associate Clinical Professor in the Departments of Pediatrics and Family Medicine at The Ohio State University College of Medicine and Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine.
